The movie “Far From Heaven” and it’s relationship to sociology?
I have to write a small paper about the movie “Far From Heaven” and it’s relationship to sociology. The topic is: Why did the teacher assign this specific movie?
How does it relate to sociology, and what would a sociologist say about this movie?
I just need some ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve seen this movie few years ago, so i can’t answer clearly, but as i remember there were some issues that might be connected with sociology.
i guess this movie shows strong link between society and it’s individuals. The main issues are race, sexuality, class, also stereotyping and deviance.
If you are a black man – you’re the criminal, or other people should expect menace out of you, the view is that connection between whites and blacks are taboo; here comes also social inequality, racial segregation.
The historical period of the movie links to the times when one group of people seems to live perfect lives. Booming economy gives them higher quality of life with spacious houses, kitchens, and washing technologies…a mass suburban life.and how the song says “little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky-tacky,little boxes, all the same…and the people in the houses, they all get put in boxes,
and there’s doctors and there’s lawyers,and business executives,and they’re all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same…”.People become more alike, and become to be afraid of being different.
romantic relationship between two different skin people is a taboo as a homosexual relationship.society cannot justify those things or understand.a person thinks he must be sick being homosexual, and he attempts to heal, but all of this is useless.(1972 homosexualism was recognised as not being a psychical illness) Here comes the issues if homosexualism is natural or cognitive and how do people look at this situation…
