Are Baptists generally regarded as “the most Protestant of the Protestants” according to my american buddy?

I don’t know what your buddy means by that, but doctrinally speaking they are the most conservative and go strictly by the bible.

Yes, they are the most conservative and adhere to the Bible as strictly as possible. Hence, “the most Protestant of the Protestants”.

I have no idea what that means. Lutherans and Anglicans are the Protestant groups that have strayed least from original and true Christianity, in doctrinal terms. Fringe groups like Adventists and some fundamentalists have strayed so far they hardly qualify as Christian. Baptists are pretty much in the middle as far as the doctrinal chaos goes.

A protestant is a doctrinal “protester” of the Catholic Church circa 1550 A.D.
Essentially the definition of what a protestant is isnt who is the most extreme right wing minded but who protests the Catholic religion the most.
Loosely speaking it was a trio of men in the sixteenth century that began protestantism. John Calvin, John Wycliffe and Martin Luther.

You could use the general designation of Baptist, and do a study of the whole spectrum from very liberal, to ultra conservative. American Baptist is on the liberal end and Southern Baptist is on the more conservative end; baptist covers a whole bunch of ground. Throw in
“independent” with the mix and you really open a can of worms.

The only group that might be more far reaching in their ecumenism…one religion fits all kind of approach would be the World Council of Churches…you don’t even need to believe in Jesus at all to be a member of that far flung amalgamation.

I would regard Thomas Roads Baptist as one of the candidates for “Most Protestant”…also in the running, Bob Jones University. Not sure if they are Southern Baptist, but you might check out Albert Mohler for data on the southern baptist bunch.

The Baptists believe doctrine that goes back to the first church in Acts. They aren’t “protestants”. And catholicism is not true to begin with.

The truth is that Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much! And the Trinity is true! Jesus is the Messiah!

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to hell, is by believing in JESUS for His free gift of eternal life in heaven, believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for all our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe in Jesus for His free gift of salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what! John 3:16, John 6:47!

Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in JESUS for His free gift of salvation! It is impossible to lose or “leave” salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).

Please pray now: “Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross to pay for my sins and that You rose from the dead, and I thank You for eternal life!” You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die!
