Gospel’s Best Worship

I’m entering a contest in a Christian magazine and must write about “Why I love rock music?” What do u think??
I’m writing about why I love rock music. Can you read it and tell me your opinions? How can I make it better? There is no specific requirements for length or anything:
Why do I love rock music? One of the most obvious reasons is the awesome beat. I love the amazing vocals, guitar rifts and drum solos, but when I stop to listen to the lyrics, I am frequently reminded of our need for Jesus Christ. “Hold up, wait a minute!” You may think I’m insane. “Jesus?”, you say. Of course when someone says “rock music” everyone thinks “Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll”. Maybe I can put my perspective on it then, and you will understand.
Rock music is raw and gritty. The artist pours out their heart into the lyrics. All their flaws, imperfections, emotions, and needs show through. Their deepest needs for love and meaning are expressed regardless of the genre. This human need resonates from rock songs about relationships and breakups to screamo songs of anger and death to (continued in Details…)
(continued…) Christian rock songs proclaiming the artist’s love, need, and praise for God. The world’s need for Christ is so apparent is almost all rock music lyrics. There is a gap in every human being which can only be filled by Jesus. Everyone throughout the Earth spends their life searching for ways to fill that gap. This is the human experience. The beauty of rock music is that our imperfections shine through and our need for Christ is so apparent. Christ is Love itself and He is the only one who can fill us completely. The lyrics of rock music never fail to point to this truth of human existence! It reminds me of how all the world needs Jesus very much, because it is so full of anger, hatred, confusion, loneliness, and suffering.[THE END. What do you think?]

Do it on the several “Christian Metal” groups. That should be very interesting.

Is there any truly high-quality music with Christian emphasis?
I refrain from saying from “Christian music” only because it seems mostly to have become its own genre of weak alternative music. And by weak, I’m not indicating how ‘heavy’ they play because I’m not necessarily speaking of pop and rock. I don’t even like Christian rock. As a matter of fact, much of the sounds of rock & roll don’t appeal to me any longer.

But I am, and I suspect I will forever be, a fan of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, and their past influences etc… All of the true ‘rock’ musicians who demonstrated excellent complexity and rarely resorted if at all to power chords and all those weaker conventions that became staples of rock & roll.

And I absolutely love Jazz, but that’s mostly instrumental so whether or not it can be considered “Christian” is irrelevant.

But as far as groups or artists who actually sing go, is there anyone who exhibits the depth and complexity of the greats while keeping it “Christian”? I’ve heard all the popular guys, and they just sound like recycled radio pop, everyone from ‘Toby Mac’ and his earlier “DC Talk” and “Newboys” to whatever the latest stuff is (My father’s all over it and plays it most of his waking hours). I can’t stand any of that powerless, saccharine alternative.

Not really, most Christian Rock that I’ve heard if it doesn’t sound preachy, just sounds corny and fake.

Can anyone source me the elusive “Christian Drum & Bass Music”?
I’ve seen this link: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Are_there_any_christian_drum_and_bass_bands

I’m a big fan of Drum & Bass and make a little bit of my own, but I have always wondered what Christian Drum & Bass would sound like? For instance, what vocal samples would they use and what worship traits would they employ? Whether it would sound great or not, you must admit, this is an interesting question and deserves attention.

If you’re reading this and the question has expired, please add your 2 cents worth in the comments section below.

Never thought about this……

Origin Unknown – 31 Seconds

Has a bright light at the end of the tunnel reference in it, sort of religious. A bit?!?!

Noisia – Messiah

Sounds sort of monk-ish.

But no, never heard any real Christian drum n bass music, I think it would be……….not the sort of things Christians might listen to!

I haven’t been to church in over 20 years but I listen to christian speed metal and rap. And I have absolutely no problem with it or see anything wrong with it. I say listen to want you want to listen to. Just because you listen to un-christian music doesn’t mean you lost your way or faith. Only close minded people listen to only one type of music.

Do these names sound like they’d be used for a Christian “music” (and I use that word lightly) group?
Based on what I know of Christianity and Worship music, these are the names I could come up with:

Jesus Dorks
Keep Child Molestation a Secret
The Brainwashed Boys
Men of the Cloth and Baby Oil
We’re Never Making a Thought Provoking Song Ever
The Churchgoers
The Bible Humpers (not thumpers)
Gay Is Sinful
I Love God
Metal Is Evil
Christian Garbage (not to be confused with the Trip-Hop band Garbage)

Even back when I was religious I hated Worship music. Now I hate even more as an atheist (except for ApologetiX, but mainly because I think they’re kind of funny and don’t want people to take them seriously).
Believe it or not, I used to love going to Church. I never questioned God’s word and I always worshipped God every single day. Then I began questioning and I’m no longer a theist.

And I’m not bitter about it, I was just making a quick little joke and a few people got their silk thongs in a bunch.
