A Man Called Peter

Richard Todd delivers a thoroughly winning performance as Peter Marshall, the Scottish-born minister who became Chaplain of the U.S. Senate. While still a boy, Peter wants only to go to sea. But as a young man he experiences a profound awakening which leaves him with the unwavering conviction that he has been called upon to do the Lord’s work. He completes his religious training in the United States, where he presides over several congregations. A compelling speaker who believes religion should be fun, Marshall inspires young people to renew their interest in the church, and his ministries prosper. Eventually, he becomes pastor of the prestigious Church of the Presidents, in Washington D.C. and is asked to serve as spiritual guide for the S

What is the name of the so called “eye of god” nebula?
I have an April 1997 issue of National Geographic (journal I think) beside my keyboard and on the cover shows an image of “the etched hourglass nebula” (actually a shell of gas expanding from a dying star). I typed the name to find it on Google Earth, but no results. I typed “eye of god” also, but no results either. If you know the real name of this image, answer this question I asked.

It’s the Helix Nebula.

Don’t you find it funny that it’s called the “Holy Bible” most of the time?
Or how about churches with names like Church of the Holy Cross, Holy Name, or Holy Trinity Cathedral?

Aren’t they considered holy because they are a church?

Or Church of God, St. John Church of God, or Crossroads Church of God.

I have never mistaken a church for anything else. Are they wanting us to realize it’s not a church of Satan?

Is anything that is different in the South called “of the devil”?
For people who have watched Adam Sandler’s Waterboy movie. Do you remember the mom who kept Sandler sheltered because everything was “of the devil” to her?

I just bring that up because there is apparently a church in the South who is planning a burn the Koran day. The minister said the Koran is “of the devil”. I thought that was funny, but backward.

What would the Atheist version of an “evangelist” be called?
I am seeing more and more of these videos on YouTube that warn Christians against the dogma of Religion…

Some of them can be very compelling.

I am an objective thinker and I’m not too stuck on any one philosophy although I happen to be Buddhist.

Two things occur to me when I am reading these “warning posts”:

1) They are becoming strikingly similar to the dogma that they warn against.

2) They aren’t really offering any “goodies”.

How does one intend to convert a person to their line of thinking without offering some benefit or desirable reason to?

Christians have the promise of Heaven.
What “freebies” do the Atheists have on the table to convince me?

So – what would you call an Atheist version of an “evangelist”???

You are confusing someone who is anti-christian with an atheist. You cant be a militant atheist
